ON THE ROAD AGAIN

18 1/2 years of televised golf and I admittedly still get a little anxious to start a new season. Getting back in full travel mode after almost 20 weeks off is a bit daunting, but here I am— researched and ready for 20 weeks of PGA Tour golf on CBS plus up to 4 LPGA events as well.

What is different about this year is having “Letters to a Future Champion” completed and in its second printing with over 2000 orders filled in our basement. Thank you!! The success has been both humbling and mind-blowing. Now I am awaiting the approval for the audio book to be released by Audiobooks Unleashed. A year ago I was definitely multi-tasking with on-course work and plowing through the book’s editing every day, with a February 28 deadline to get everything uploaded and in the queue for the printing press. Miraculously, we beat the deadline by 2 days.

This year may be a bit simpler workload (check back in with me in August to see if that is actually the case) but my goals are set high: report in a concise manner with well-researched information, tell the viewer something he or she wouldn’t otherwise know, have a on-going golf-geek conversation with my fellow announcers and have some humor with a game that can drive you mad most of the time.

I’ve got the best job on the planet (most days). Thanks for letting me share my office with you and for sharing your time with us on the CBS Golf Team. And thank you for your continued support of my book. Together we’ve changed lives through the donations to the Saratoga WarHorse and will continue to do so with a focus on getting the book into the hands of junior golfers, teachers and coaches— the grass roots of the game. Let’s do this!
